20th Anniversary of March at the Museums Festival to Take Place Online
Updated: Apr 16, 2021
Mars aux Musées is an annual event run by students for students, taking place virtually this year from the 18th to 28th March.
Put on together by the City of Nice and the Université Côte d'Azur and organised by students in the Master of Events Management, Cultural Mediation and Planning, the event has become a key part of Nice's cultural calendar, particularly for its success in engaging young people with the scene!
Mars aux Musées is a museum event organized by students for students. It offers a rich and diversified program, based on presentations and performances which take place in the main museums of Nice. The event, which attracts more than 5,000 visitors each year, aims to make better known the museum scene to a large public, beyond the circle of the usual visitors and to promote the work of museums beyond their usual audience.
This year, in view of the health restrictions due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the City of Nice, the
Université Côte d'Azur and its Master 2 EMIC students have decided to maintain March at the Museums by proposing an online format for the event. Since cultural establishments, including museums, have been closed for several months a choice had to be made: cancel the event or propose an innovative online format. The choice was, of course, for the second option.
Digitizing this anniversary edition gives the opportunity to entertain the usual audience while reaching a wider and even bigger one, thanks to the internet and social media. The festival March at the Museums is thus accessible for residents of the PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) region, like the previous editions, but also internet users.
In order for this digitalization of March at the Museums to be work perfectly, they collaborated with independent technical service providers. Their professionalism in the audio-visual world allows them to do a great job of filming. The digitalization plan consists of filming artistic events beforehand. They will then be broadcast on the website and social networks during the dates planned for the festival. These videos will be shot in the museums of Nice chosen for the occasion. The videos will be public and accessible permanently as soon as they are broadcasted.
