Cannes rolls out the pink carpet for Canneseries Season 4
It’s bigger, it’s better, and it’s still free! The 4th season of Canneseries returns to the Croisette 8 - 13 October to deck the city in bright pink.
The Palais des Festival is gearing up for the next big festival and they are rolling out the bright pink carpet. The 2021 edition of Canneseries is even bigger, with more shows, more writers, more cast and more lectures.
10 long-form series, 10 short-form series, 4 series out of competition and many rendezvous at the Espace Miramar and online, during 6 days of discoveries, revelations, discussions, sharing and joy. But most of all, there is the excitement to premieres or even our favourite shows on the big screen!
There are many partners and sponsors of Canneseries this year, but the newest addition is Dior. Laurent Kleitman, President and CEO of Christian Dior Parfums said: “Many talents from international television productions are part of the faces representing Dior beauty. Our support to CANNESERIES is in line with that spirit of discovery and sharpness, and highlights our desire to accompany established as well as emerging talents.”
Series are a part of people’s everyday life, and the festival also wants to be close to its audience: therefore, it is entirely free and open to all. Discussions and conferences are organized between the public and talents coming especially for them, the public can walk the pink carpet and cross paths with a series team taking official pictures. The Canneseries experience is a great memory for those who have been there and the magic of the Auditorium Lumière of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is unforgettable. It is a grand place for the selected series to be revealed.
Always including students
Inviting the audience to have fun, learn, feel or question is in Canneseries’ DNA. Questioning the youth during special screenings reserved to schools and giving the opportunity to award series to student juries, are amongst the most important moments of the festival. Canneseries also aims to highlight and support creation by inviting French and international writers to share and discuss within the CANNESERIES WRITERS CLUB.
As the festival continues to grow, the Mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard has been working hard to make Cannes the city of creative arts, with a particular emphasis on film and writing. He stated: “Beyond CANNESERIES, Cannes is moving forward to becoming a major location for writing careers thanks to the development of a creative economy through the Cannes on Air dynamics. The George Mélies Campus, open since September at the Bastide Rouge in La Bocca – including storytelling courses such as Talent Unlimited in partnership with the UCA, Vivendi and Canal+ for feature film and series screenwriting (CANNESERIES Unlimited with Serial Eyes) -, and the opening of the production studios and multiplex Cineum Cannes, are part of that effort. We wish to welcome the biggest cultural and professional events of the audiovisual world, in accordance with our expertise, to become the city where all the chain links come together, and to make of Cannes a place where training meets creation and diffusion.”
See the shows before anyone else!
Exclusive series and popular series will be screened during the festival, including several World Premieres. The biggest premiere is taking place on Sunday evening and even though it's not in the official competition, there has been a lot of buzz around the new Franco-British series "Around the world in 80 Days" starring David Tennet.
Fan of Gomorra? Watch the season finale before anyone else when it premieres at the festival.
Other notable premieres from the long-form series include:
“Limbo…until its over” (Argentina) - A young millionaire heiress has it all: a glamorous lifestyle and a family who indulges her every whim. When she learns of her father dies, she returns to Buenos Aires to contend with a dark side of her past.
“Mister 8” (Finland) - Life is good for Maria. She’s the CEO of a family business, and there
is more than enough love in her life. Maria has seven husbands, a different man for every weekday. But then she falls in love with Juho, but sadly, there are not eight days a week.
There are so many more premieres, lectures, and of course, the Awards!
