French Riviera hotels dominate Condé Nast's Top 20 in France

The annual Reader's Choice awards prove how spectacular it is to sojourn in the French Riviera! Pack your bags and pick one of the best...

In at #2, the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc

Awards are important. There are the Academy Awards, Grammys, Olympic medals, Pullitzers, Lions, Michelin stars... Just about every industry has an annual award for outstanding performance, and getting in the famous Reader's Choice Awards from Condé Nast Traveller gives luxury hotels some serious bragging rights.

It has just published their 2021 picks for the top hotels in the world and the social media channels are a buzz around the world. In the listing for the Top 20 hotels in France and Monaco (excluding Paris - the capital has its own list), luxury hotels in the Côte d'Azur (and PACA region) dominate. Here, we just focus on the top 10 properties.

Kicking off in Aix-en-Provence, the first and second spots are tied at a rating of 99.58. The coveted #1 goes to Villa Gallici in Aix-en-Provence and #2 to the stunning 'Grande Dame' of Cap d'Antibes, the Hotel du Cap-Eden Roc, pictured above.

From there, continuing west along the French coast, we'll hit the next two beauties on the list: Just 15 minutes from Antibes, the Hôtel Barrière Le Gray d'Albion, located smack dab in the centre of Cannes comes in at #4 and further west to Saint Tropez, the Château de la Messardiere takes #5.

The Barrière collection's second hotel in Cannes also makes the list at #9 with Le Majestic Cannes, located in one of the most prime spots in the city. The enormous white palace sits on the Croisette, facing the sea and the Palais des Festivals, ground zero during the fabulous festivals and congresses.

In at #8, the Hotel Métropole Monte-Carlo

The only hotel in Monaco to make the top 10 comes in at #8 with Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo with a score of 98.31. This palatial hotel is nestled within the city like a secret oasis of luxury. A regular on this list, the Metropole outdoes most visitors' expectations with stunning design, fabulous service and ultimate privacy. In true secret garden fashion, anywhere within the bustling Place de Casino, or even in the shopping centre next door, you could easily miss this property. But inside, you can see everything! The views of the entire Principality from the roof and terraces are breathtaking.
