Get Your Creative Juices Flowing with 'Art and Wine'!
The 23rd edition of the 'Art et Vin' festival in Provence will showcase wine and artistic works from June to October 2021!
Two of France's finest exports - wine and art - will be brought together for the 23rd 'Art et Vin' festival throughout the summer months in Provence. Run by the PACA-CORSE Federation of Independent Winegrowers, this year's event will satisfy a limited number of palates in a more intimate setting. From June to October, painters, visual artists, photographers, musicians and dancers will bring to life the fields and castles of Provence under the theme "Watershed" (''Lignes de partage''), which illustrates how wine artisans are indebted to the environment through the essential element of water. Swirl your glass and prepare for a journey to the heart of the of the vine and of art.
Watershed, an ode to the environment
Echoing the previous editions dedicated to climate and terroir, "Watershed" refers to the subtle drainage divide that separates one body of water from another. Artists draw dividing lines, segments of landscapes, as natural waters do on the earth's sphere. Artists and winemakers are linked by the beauty of a project, of a place to be enhanced through art, and vice versa - through exchanging and sharing.
Artists and winemakers together in the face of the pandemic
With a glass half-full attitude, artists and winegrowers are coming together to celebrate their creations despite the difficulties both industries have encountered due to the pandemic. Every year since 1998, artists and artist collectives have been invited to display their works or to give performances in emblematic places such as cellars and wineries, as well as outside, in the middle of vineyards. The event invites visitors to discover the fields and castles of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur-Corsica region from a new angle, while reconnecting with art in an intimate format.
Throughout the festival, guests will be able to appreciate a wide variety of art forms, including painting, sculpture, photography, architecture and ceramics. The programme is extensive, but here is a taste of what to expect...
It is a long-established fact in French society that wine and art go hand-in-hand... So why not pay a visit to the sun-drenched vineyards of Provence and hydrate your artistic spirit?
