Le Broc Festival d'été kicks-off summer music festivals
The summer calendar is jammed with music festivals across the French Riviera, starting this weekend in Le Broc with funk, rock and soul.
The village of only 1,500 inhabitants, 30 kilometers northwest of Nice, Le Broc will be transformed into a music epicentre for three nights of funky music and total fun. Attracting eclectic, international performers, this town will swell with culture and soul, bringing life back to the stone walls left quiet during the lockdowns.
It is also getting a little help from the region. In order to support the recovery of the cultural sector, the RÉgion Sud and Arsud, the Region's cultural operator, are offering "Billets Découverte" (Discovery Tickets), a 2-for-1 ticket offer. For each seat purchased, they provide one as an incentive to encourage the return of the public to festivals and to encourage local attendance by giving the region's inhabitants the opportunity to discover the cultural offer of their territory. This scheme is strictly for the residents of the Région Sud.
Part of a larger cultural festival, the Festival d'été was preceded by the French rock band Fatals Picard, who represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest. They got crowds warmed up 18 June, now the Festival d'été brings three nights of concerts in Le Broc's Théâtre de Verdure.
Keziah Jones, Marjorie Martinez & Sébastien Machado and Ayo
From July 2nd, the big Festival d'été starts , which offers the best of funk, blues and soul on three consecutive evenings in the open air theatre. The schedule:
Keziah Jones is a travelling, fluttering guitarist, using his music as sound poems, Jones has found a name for his personal style, "blufunk", mixing soul-funk, blues, rock and African rhythms, thus wishing to narrow the borders between his native continent and his adopted West.
Marjorie Martinez, singer and guitarist with her new very personal project for which she composed the lyrics and music. A pure nugget of creativity that takes flight on stage "live". Melodies and refrains that we remember, an energy and a captivating musicality rich in emotions in a Blues & Soul style.
Sébastien Machado, pianist, singer, composer and arranger, draws his influence from the pure tradition of Motown artists and from the international scenes by accompanying the virtuoso harmonica player from Chicago, "Sugar Blue", for almost a decade. His exceptional and atypical career makes him a unique and rare artist.
AYỌ has been chaining folk-soul hits with a precious touch of freshness for over ten years. If there is one artist unanimously recognized for her generosity in concert, it is her. She is also often willing to leave the stage to sing in the middle of her audience. Since her highly acclaimed debut in 2006 with the album "Joyful" and the heady hit "Down on my knees", the German folk-soul artist has been achieving success after success with great sincerity.
